Roles and permissions
Administrators
What Administrators, Staff, Teachers and Parents can each do, and how to change someone’s roles.
Administrators manage roles under Admin → People & roles.
- Administrator: everything, including settings, classes and roles.
- Staff: the front office. Students, families, attendance, billing, enrollment, and the profiles of teachers and parents.
- Teacher: their own classes: attendance, gradebook, assignments, messages to their families.
- Parent/Guardian: their own linked children.
A person can hold more than one role. A teacher who is also a parent sees both.
Safeguards on Administrator access
- Giving or removing Administrator needs your own password, and every Administrator is emailed.
- You can’t remove your own Administrator role, and the last Administrator can never lose it.
Hiding someone
Hide from the directory keeps an account (a technical-support login, say) out of directories, mentions and office alerts, while it works as normal.
